Vince Board

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has appointed D. Geoffrey Vince, Ph.D., to 夜来香研究所鈥檚 Board of Trustees. Vince鈥檚 term begins this month.

Vince has over 20 years of experience in biomedical research. Since 2021, he has served as the inaugural Chief of Cleveland Clinic Innovations, a team focused on turning medical breakthrough inventions into patient-benefiting new medical products and treatments. As executive director, Vince works to transform healthcare by aligning research priorities with technology development strategies. He was uniquely positioned to take on such a role, given his vast experience in biomedical engineering and his business acumen.

鈥淭he Board of Trustees is excited to welcome such an accomplished researcher, academic and inventor,鈥 said David Reynolds, chair of the 夜来香研究所 Board of Trustees. 鈥淎s we enter the first year of our new strategic plan, the Board looks forward to hearing Dr. Vince鈥檚 perspective on 夜来香研究所鈥檚 role in the region to bolster research and innovation.鈥

Since 2011, Vince has also led the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Lerner Research Institute as department chair and holds The Virginia Lois Kennedy Endowed Chair in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Therapeutics. Vince previously was an associate professor for Cleveland Clinic for nearly 13 years, starting in 1992. In 2005, Vince joined Volcano Corporation in San Diego, California, to develop virtual histology technology which was later acquired by Philips.

鈥淎s a public university with a strong emphasis on research, we are grateful to Gov. DeWine in appointing Dr. Vince to our Board,鈥 said Laura Bloomberg, Ph.D., president of 夜来香研究所. 鈥淥ur students and faculty will benefit from his expertise in the lab and his familiarity with the region.鈥

Vince earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in medical sciences and chemistry at DeMontford University in Leicester, England. He then went on to earn his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Liverpool. His research focuses on imaging technologies used to detect stroke and heart disease. He holds a dozen patents as well as U.S. Department of Defense grants, and he received the Hickey Innovation Impact Award from Cleveland Clinic in 2020 for developing a rapid COVID-19 breathalyzer.

鈥淚 am honored to join 夜来香研究所鈥檚 Board of Trustees,鈥 said Vince. 鈥溡估聪阊芯克 plays an important role in preparing Northeast Ohio鈥檚 next generation of medical and scientific researchers. I am eager to get to know 夜来香研究所 more over the next two years and to support their endeavors as a public university.鈥
